JOBO TecnoLab Gamma Film Processors

"I already had two TecnoLabs and I wanted to buy another.  My space and budget were limited so I selected the TecnoLab Gamma."
Jakob Mikaili, Advanced Photo Lab,
Canoga Park, California

Overview
The success of TecnoLab is keyed to a range of high specification film and print processing machines, matched to the demands of modern photo processing. The company constantly evolves or applies new technology to the development of new products.

The JOBO TecnoLab Gamma series of hanger processors is the newest result of this continuous development program. The Gamma machines offer high quality processing at the lowest possible price and with reasonable quantity production capabilities. Available in two sizes (5x7 and 8x10 capacities) and in 3 process types (E-6, C-41 and black and white) the Gamma machines will meet moderate film volume requirements with a minimum of space and chemical solutions, and still maintain full utilization of chemicals.

The JOBO TecnoLab Gamma processors provide a low cost way to get a high quality processor.  They include many of the same features offered as standard on the higher priced models, such as "full" battery backup, touch sensitive lift rack safety systems, a true four-column lift system for strength and reliability and much more.  Check the list of features below for details.

Standard Features
1. If the power fails, this processor will keep on running due to its full battery backup. This will continue to operate the lift, air pumps, nitrogen solenoid and wash water solenoid valves during a power failure. No human intervention is needed.
2. For long life and smooth operation, the Gamma uses a true 4-column lift.
3. To save you money, the Gamma includes the first 10 roll film hangers.
4. For easy access in any photo lab, the Gamma has hinged dryer doors on both sides.
5. Easy servicing was designed into the Gamma. For instance, the recirculation pumps have shutoff valves on both sides so you won’t have to drain the tanks if you need to service the pumps.
6. For convenient installation, the replenishment pumps are mounted in a separate PVC housing.
7. To reduce water consumption, separate water solenoid valves are used for each water bath.
8. The E-6 Gamma processor has separate nitrogen solenoid valves for precise timing and agitation control in each developer tank, with separate controls for air agitation.
9. For safety, independent level sensors in each tank automatically shut down the heaters if the solution level drops below normal.
10. No external air compressor is needed since the Gamma processors have their own individual air pumps.
11. For your protection, overload, over-temperature and ground leak safety systems are standard.
12. To continuously save you money, the Gamma processors have low electrical consumption.
13. The Gamma features compact design for a slightly smaller footprint and reduced minimum daily film requirement to easily meet minimum chemical utilization levels.
14. A two line text LCD screen shows the processor functions.
15. Stainless steel film recovery baskets are included in every tank, in case your operator doesn’t clip the film securely.
16. A seven-day clock for automatic startup brings the machine up to temperature by the time your lab opens for business.
17. Pump shelf for easy access to chemical circulation pumps.
18. Individual temperature control for each solution tank to enable you to fine-tune your process
19. Stainless steel screens in each solution tank to protect circulation pumps from blockage by small items such as twin check tags, etc.
20. Dryer fan and heater safety sensors protect your lab and the processor from overheating hazards.
21. To protect your operator, the lift features a touch sensitive safety system for both the up and down movements.
22. The full operation test function is handy for checking the machine operation at the start of each day.

Optional features
1. Nitrogen control panel with humidifier and pressure reducing manometer to provide precise control for developer agitation
2. Individual water flowmeters for each wash tank
3. Fine cartridge filtration for each circulated solution
4. 30, 60 or 120 liter replenisher storage console
5. Built-in motorized mixers available for replenisher storage console
6. Mirror construction if needed to suit your facilities

How did we do it?
The following are some differences between the Gamma TecnoLab processors and other TecnoLab hanger machines that enabled TecnoLab to reduce the prices on the Gamma processors.

 Alternate cycle processing; this allows the use of smaller tanks for easier utilization rates, which also makes a smaller machine and smaller dryer cabinet
 Two pre-loading positions.
 Water flow-meters are optional ($150 each)
 Uni-tank construction – One large tank with separate chambers for each solution
 Simple 2 PC board computer
 2 line LCD display
 Pre-set replenishment rates (averaged replenishment)
 Simple thermostat for dryer control
 Replenisher storage console is optional
 Fine filtration is optional ($250 each)

What is a less expensive alternative? What’s the next step up?
The AutoLab ATL-2500 and other 2x00 series processors offer less expensive, automatic processing, but with a smaller capacity, and lacking the convenience of dry-to-dry operation.

The next step up would be the TecnoLab Micro Compact or TecnoLab Delta Micro processors.
