Instructions for Tetenal Mono PK
RA-4 Chemicals
Mono PK RA-4 was developed to process color prints at room
temperature with out the aid of special processing equipment. This chemical kit can be
used in Nova print pods, drums using roller base motors, or in trays. It can also be used
in JOBO's DuoLab, CPE, CPP,CPA, all Autolabs and Fujimoto paper processors by adhering to
the temperature limits of the chemical kit. Mono PK RA-4 is designed to work in a
temperature range between 16°c and 25° (60.8° to 77°). Development, bleach-fix and
final wash times will vary with temperature.
Mixing:
The Color developer may separate into two layers during
shipment. This is a normal occurrence and is corrected by always shaking from three to
five minutes before mixing. When the solution is ready to be used, it will be clear. Allow
the developer to stand for a few minutes to allow any air bubbles to rise.
In some applications a stop bath is
recommended. Tetenal Stop Bath may be used or you may make your own solution of 3% to 5%
acetic acid stop bath.
Bleach fix should be mixed thoroughly with
water by shaking the solution for one to two minuets.
For Tray Processing:
- Process prints in total darkness or with the appropriate color
printing safelight.
- Process prints using the time and temperature table below.
- Agitate the prints continuously and use tongs or gloves to
move the prints
- Drain off color developer completely before placing the print
in the stop bath.
- Follow the table directions for bleach fix and wash times.
Drum Processing:
- Bring the drum and chemicals to
room temperature.
- Process prints using the time and temperature table below.
Avoid developer times of less than 1 minute.
- Use stop bath immediately after development.
- Rinse and dry both drum and lid carefully to avoid bleach or
developer contamination
Nova and Jobo Slot Processors:
- For unheated processors, like the Nova Print Pod, bring the chemicals to room temperature.
- For heated units, select the select processing temperature
between 16 to 25°c to process the paper
- For processors without a stop bath tank, lift the paper out of
the slot for 15 seconds before the end of the developer time and allow the print to drain.
Place the paper in the bleach-fix and agitate vigorously.

- Processing times are not as critical with mono PK RA4 as with
other RA-4 developers. Color development times can be exceeded by 50 %.
- Room lights can be turned on 15 seconds after the print is
placed in the Bleach Fix.
