BULLETIN #B006

REMOVAL OF THE ATL-3 AND ATL-3000
LOWER MOTOR UNIT

You will need:

  • 3mm hex ball head driver or 3mm Allen key supplied with your processor (JOBO Part #16227)
  • Standard blade screwdriver
  • Small wire cutters
  • Wrench or Channel Lock® Pliers or Vise Grip® locking pliers
  • Wire tie or Ty-wrap (JOBO Part #35015) or equivalent

Procedure:

1) Remove the Upper Head of the ATL from the Lower Motor Unit as described in Bulletin # B005A for ATL-1,2,2+, and 3 or Bulletin # B005B for ATL-3000, and 2X00's.

2) Disconnect the main power cord from the electrical outlet!

3) Disconnect the sensor for the front/back bottle air switch from the lower half of the air switch assembly by removing the two (2) small standard screws that hold the sensor in position.

NOTE: Please note there is a small steel washer below the head of each screw. Make sure you do not lose the washers.

4) Remove the six (6) 3mm cap head screws that secure the motor unit to the trough. Three are located across the front of the motor unit as well as three across the rear.
NOTE: If these screws are too tight to remove, you may need to use Vice-Grip® Pliers to loosen them.
5) For ATL-3's: Unplug the bottle (chemical) temperature sensor from the motor unit by following its wire into the motor unit's fuse access panel area to a circuit board location labeled "CHE". Simply pull the small black colored connector off of the circuit board. Do not be concerned with the polarity of the connection.

For ATL-3000's: In Bulletin # B005B, you already unplugged the bottle (chemical) temperature sensor wires, however you must now pull the REAR bottle (chemical) temperature sensor wire out through the rear of the motor unit. This wire follows the sensor wire for the front/back bottle air switch through a wire channel.

NOTE: The foam at the opening of the wire channel located at the rear of the motor unit is important. Make sure you save this foam and install it when the temperature sensor wire in inserted back into the wire channel. The foam blocks air from being drawn into the wire channel.

6) If your processor is an ATL-3 or ATL-3000 tabletop model (4172 or 4272), you may now lift the lower motor unit out of the trough.

The Following steps are only applicable to ATL-3's and ATL-3000's with chemical refilling capability:

A) Disconnect the main power cord from the electrical outlet!

B) Pull out the 15L bottle cart from underneath the processor.

C) Remove the standard screw that holds the pump drawer in place. For early production ATL-3's, remove the standard screw from the door to access the refill pumps.

D) Open the door located below the refill pump power switch.

E) If applicable, pull the pump drawer forward approximately 1 foot.

F) The power cord for the motor unit exits the motor unit housing on the left side of the unit (in the sink area). The power cord then runs to the rear of the processor, then down through a hole in the top of the trough. The power cord then leads to the front of the pump drawer or to a terminal block located just above the refill pumps (in the early production ATL-3's).

G) Follow the power cord as described in Step F, then cut the ty-wraps that are holding the power cord for the motor unit.

For ATL-3's with a pump drawer and all ATL-3000's, proceed to Step H.

For early production ATL-3's, skip to Step K.

H) Remove the screw and clamp holding the motor unit's power cord located on the bottom of the drawer and toward the front (the power cord runs through a clamp).

I) Lift up the gray hinged door that covers the front compartment of the pump drawer.

J) Locate the power terminal block inside the front compartment of the pump drawer. You will find it on the left side of the compartment. The power cord is connected by 3 wires on the right side of the block. Disconnect the cord. SKIP STEP K AND CONTINUE WITH STEP L.

K) Release the three wires to the motor unit power cord by pressing a small standard screw driver into the front of the power block. While pressing the front of the power block, pull the wires out of the power block.

L) Thread the power cord back through the hole in the top of the trough.

M) You may now remove the lower motor unit by lifting it out of the trough.
